Anu Maakan Writer

Anu Maakan has a strong belief that writing about business must be interesting, engaging and accessible.

As a result, Anu’s blog on WordPress – Anu Maakan – whips up a storm around those who think business equals boring…

Filled with real-life situations from the world of work, entertainment, business and media, she talks about Michelle Obama and motherhood, leadership and leaping the corporate ladder.

There’s more than a nod to her academic and research background also. Her writing explains fundamental parts of working life and career progression in a way that is appealing to all.

Anu’s writing is for you if  you are in the world of work and want the wider issues explaining or simply want to know what an expert says about professional success.

Fun, engaging and thought provoking – business is never boring in Anu’s hands.

Describe yourself in 140 characters…

I take my role of change agent very seriously. I have always appreciated a well thought-out, independent view point. I am inspired by nature and value beauty & freedom in all its forms.

Someone asks you how you began your life as as writer, how do you reply…

My interest in business and finance led me to a job as a correspondent with ‘Outlook Money’, where I thoroughly enjoyed discovering my knack for writing. Thereafter, I worked for a dot com start up and contributed to their content strategy and sourcing.

Is University or the University of Life important to your writing…

University is an interesting place to be. It is instrumental in uncovering facets of ourselves before we run into the ‘University of life’.

What are you working on at the moment…

I am working on a series of articles on corporate governance which will be published on my website. Here it is.

What’s the comment most people make about your writing…

That I have a ‘strong pen’ and can explain complex material in a simple manner.

Who has influenced your writing…

I can’t see a direct influence although my favourite authors include Vladimir Nabakov and Marcel Proust.

What’s on the agenda for you and your writing in the future…

I’m going to be writing a lot more around corporate governance and regulatory change.

You are on the podium at an awards ceremony, who or what do you thank for your success…

God, my parents and my attitude to life 🙂
